Still floating

Still haven't made much headway neither about PLCC nor switching. Concentrating more on switching so that I can get on with the light controls.

Switching

Now,  looking into a way to switch the appliances on and off without needing continuous power. Either latching relays or something with SCR, TRIAC (father's idea) or something like that should do the job.

Simultaneously looking into PLCC too.

PLCC modem- big list

Found a huge list of PLCC modems here

http://www.edaboard.com/thread5174.html

Still figuring out how I'll manage to get enough speed for image transfer.

A little headway

Finally stumbled upon an article about PLCC in scribd. Also posted a help post in AVRfreaks.

Now searching on zero crossing so that I could implement it. Still no idea about bandwidth requirement and possibilities

video

Looking into how much bandwidth I'll need for the PLCC. I'm expecting maximum load from the video feed preferably from a webcam since it is low cost. Simultaneously, I'm looking at the preocessing sides too. I have some experience with face recognition but have to check out video transfer from a uc .

Working on connectivity.

I want to update the system firmware form my console, so working on a communication channel which will serve the dual purpose of debug & update interface and system communication channel for data transfer.
None of the current systems seem to fulfil my needs completely which are no-hassle expandability and fast communication. So looking into powerline communication. But I'll have to develop new bootloaders for my modules. So, looking into bootloaders too.

The work wont proceed fast for a couple of months due to other engagements but "Slow and Steady Wins the Race" ;)

Eywa ?

Eywa is the god of Pandora in James Cameron's movie Avatar. She is a being integrated into the Pandoran biosphere and can communicate with all creatures and keeps the balance of things on Pandora.

Here too the concept is the same, but Eywa will slowly but surely move form science fiction to science. Eywa is the name of my new home automation system.

Eywa shall:
  • hear
  • respond
  • see
  • improve herself and learn new people (hopefully)
  • control lights etc for optimum use
Those are a short list and my dreams ;)

This site shall serve as a worklog for this project and lets hope EYWA shall live!
